Drawn Cut Torn

Filed under: Art, Fiona Long, General, News — October 13, 2009 @ 9:08 pm

Exhibition “Drawn Cut Torn”curated by Terry Smith at the wimbledon space, of drawings from people at Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon Colleges of Art. All visitors to each of the colleges on one day in October 2008 were asked to make a drawing of either “who am i?” or “where am i?” on an A4 piece of paper for the event “Draw Cut Tear”. These drawings were all displayed in one exhibition from 29th October – 27th November 2009. Visitors to the exhibition were asked to become “curator for the day” by filling in a form with their favourite 10 of the hundreds of drawings on display. One of these forms was then picked at random each day and their selected 10 were showed in pride of place in the “curator for a day” space. I was one of the gallery assistants for the show and was rather happy one day to discover that my drawing had been picked as one of the 10 the day before! It didn’t look quite the same in it’s plastic pouch as it was in 2 parts and was originally displayed with the drawing going onto the wall with space inbetween. I’m pleased someone saw past that and decided to pick my humble little drawing…whatever their “name” is…
