Yesterday was my last Centre Group oil painting class where I finished this painting. Thursday is the last life drawing class and Friday the last watercolour class. I shall be very sad to say goodbye to everyone in the group. You have all been so welcoming to me and seeing your work and it’s progression has been an inspiration. Above all, thank you to Fred Sinkinson our teacher. Fred was Head of the Arts at Southampton University and is a very important artist who was involved in the St Ives movement. His pushing us towards an abstract way of thinking and consideration of structure has been tremendously important in improving my work and has totally opened my mind to a whole new world of possibilities. Fred’s influence will be with me for the rest of my life! Thank you Fred for all that you have taught me!
