Ori Exhibition
I installed this morning and the space is amazing! There will be a stairway of hammocks, an Eritrean coffee ceremony, and all sorts of fun and games, DJ, BBQ etc. I’ll be there on Friday (£3). Hope to see you there x (PS the image on this poster is the outside of the space so when you get to a big orange painted building you know you’re there. (It’s opposite the most terrifying building I’ve ever seen!)
For the exhibition I have been led by Eṣu/ Ẹlẹgbara – the god who owns all passageways, and a trickster who teaches lessons to make two works inspired by the claustrophobic sense of getting lost in the city. I have used concrete to emulate layers of ever changing material. As the patchwork city is demolished and rebuilt, even the most permanent seeming monuments are transitory.
