Stones and Glass Houses
Talented Italian artist Gianluca Cosci is currently showing his latest collection of photographs in his first solo exhibition at The Parlour Project Space. The series explores ideas of the corporate sponsorhip of contemporary art and how it effects the art. Cosci’s photographs are taken from the street, through vast, reflective windows, adding a sense of aesthetic fascination which he designs to be decidedly disenchanted. His photographs gaze into typical marble panelled corporate lobbies, adorned with large, imposing contemporary art. These images are enigmas that one can get lost in with their myriad reflections. One could stand and stare and puzzle over them for hours. Gianluca Cosci’s ultimate analysis is not just about the overwhelming power of unscrupulous, cynical corporations but also the lack of critique and awareness from the art system and the subtle censorship it exercises.
