I need negative as well as positive comments (if you have any) on this palette knife painting as I'm sending the details to a boy in Australia for a project he's doing about me (as I am a living artist) at school! question 4: could you please send me a picture that could have alot of things that people do and don't like about it. So your comments will be very useful to a little boy's education! Please comment on what you do or do not like the painting. Comments on the photography aren't really of interest but I know you aren't all comfortable with art critique but everyone knows what they do or don't like so please just say why you do or don't like it. Both will be useful so don't hold back. It's not my usual style so you won't be offending me!
I thought that this painting would be a good candidate as it's probably a love or hate kind of image. My auntie loves it so it's now sitting on her wall!

Comments:
plus: colors and texture...
minus: prefer the painting for sure....
(from the Plus-Minus Comment group)
I am kind of at a loss since I am asked to comment on a painting and not a photo. However, I will give it a try.

plus: Good detail in the grass.
minus: The colors are a little bland, but that appears to be the style of the painting.

plus: Good job of blending the colors. Nice presentation...I almost get the sense of this being a wolf in sheeps clothing.
minus: The shot is very flat. Not enough shadows.

Sorry I do not like shots of painting unless they are
in perspective of something else. I'll prefer a painting
instead of the shot, but then this is just my personal
opinion. But keep shooting;)

As a picture it looks rather boring - the painting itself might be much more interesting, I guess...
This is tricky to score. I have to score based on the photo not the subject. As a painting I'm sure it is fine, and contains many interesting textures. As a photo it is rather flat.
Score 8/13 (from the Judgment Day group)
I think it is adorable.

Hard to really judge, a picture of a painting, I'
m really commenting on the painting, not the picture.
I'm not really a big fan of this type of painting, and the colors seem a bit bland.

Score _8/13 (from the Judgment Day group)
After reading your description this makes it a very difficult picture to Judgement Day

I really like the blending you've achieved on the colouring with the brush strokes, I do think it would benefit from a little saturation. I'm sure he'll love it regardless.

pictures of paintings. i like the painting. i wish the picture wasnt so centered. i like the textures. hope the project goes well.

Ha,ha,ha! An interesting idea! Beautiful? Nmmm...

Commenting on this purely as a photograph (and not as a painting), I'm afraid I find this flat (tonally) and too centred (compositionally).

I like this painting - it's adorable, and almost childlike or primitive.

"Obsessive flickrites!"
Well, it looks very fluffy, which is a good thing for a sheep!

Sorry, but I don't know much about paintings and art behind it. I like it, but I like it though, sorry I can't help you out really.

I like the expressive brush technic you useded
to paint the sheep

Its good impressionist art..a magic simplicity. (4 Aces)
Fiona, as I'm sure you know by now... this is the type of art that I love. Its a simple design with excellent texture/interest in the main image, as well as in the grassy area. Its perfect for a kids room, as well as a childrens book. I love the colors, as they are not overpowering, and will compliment a rooms' decor beautifully. JOB WELL DONE!

From the Art Comments Group!
+ great textured knife work
- composition is static

From the Positive/Negative Pool.
+ i love the texture - especially the background green
- a little too centured. maybe a bit more to the upper left? think thirds in paintings too!

For the painting:
+I really the texture and the simplicity
-composition might be a little bland (maybe better off center a bit or with a bigger grassy green border)
Bold , raw , simple , naive art .
