Finished! The lighting doesn't show it to its best effect. It's one that really should be seen in the flesh, but failing that, this is the best that I could do. Finally everyone in my class liked it and felt that I had finished and were impressed at how I kept improving it even in the face of all that criticism! I'm very pleased with it now. I only wish you could see it as it really is but it is ever changing depending on the light that catches it and at what angle and time of day.

i think its a really beautiful painting. i really love the colors and, should I say, angles in it. would love to see in the flesh as something is always lost in a painting when your not physically in front of it.

Thank you so much everyone! It's very funny you should say that taffsdad because, although it is a painting of a Bird of Paradise flower, I had a phoenix rising from the flames in mind whilst I painted it! Well interpreted!

Thank you so much everyone! I'd love to set up prints of this but sadly I can't find any English sites that will do it and the American sites won't do it because I'm English. If anyone has any ideas of how I can get around this then please let me know. PS I can't afford to publish a load of prints myself.

Full of interesting colour and texture. I'm not sure how well it's possible to capture this in a photo but that's a pretty good attempt. Perhaps a slightly stronger flash would highlight the tactile quality more.
