I'm painting this at college at the moment. There are the obvious sexual symbolisms used throughout literature so I was considering making this painting a purplish colour. I started it in blue and rather like it as it is though. I welcome any opinions on the matter!

Comments:
this one at the moment, but i could change my mind tomorrow. i think theres the potential for several more colours for different moods.
Whichever gives you the widest range/scale of contrasts. For the moment this one does because of the pure black and pure white.
An interesting transition from your previous posts......water pipe lines....snake pit.....metropolitan fags....a trail of sinuous twisting paths.....intestinal almost. They all relate so well.
Thank you so much for your comments guys! I'd better not wade in with the purple tomorrow as I was planning to! I'll give it some more thought!
hmmm i think the brown one
but each to their own
definitely the blue at the minute.
up the contrast like mad - try it?
Artistically the brown/orange - it is warmer....
Metaphorically, this.

Freud originated popularized the concept of the serpent as phallic. He was well aware of the idea that the serpent's venom is cold. (Since he learned in a cheder, a Jewish elementary school and that is mentioned in one of the basic texts used for about 1000 years.) He was was well aware that sex could be cold, as evidenced by his original theory on the etiology of hysteria.

But intellectual gobbledy-gook is hardly what art needs......
